In 1943, Jacques - Yves Cousteau and Emile Gagnan invented a piece of diving equipment that would change the world and our understanding of our oceans forever.

From this partnership they created the Aqualung, the first recreational scuba diving regulator, making ocean exploration available to everyone.

The Original Dive Equipment

In 1943 French naval officer Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Air Liquide engineer Emile Gagnan developed an autonomous diving system with a demand regulator, called the scaphandre autonome. This soon became known as the "Aqua-Lung," after Cousteau translated for English-speaking countries and was the first diving regulator. From these beginnings, the brand was born and shaped the recreational diving world as we know it today. Delivering over 80 years of technical excellence.

Here are Aquanauts we are delighted to offer an extensive range of Aqualung products to suit every type of diver.
